A Tale Of Two 2020s

December 31, 2019

It’s hard to believe that this is the last blog post of the year and the decade! As we are about to start a whole new era I thought it apt to talk about 2020 ‘s beginnings and its plans for the new beginning in January

2020 will be a big year for 2020 Curates. Since I opened, just over a decade ago, people have been asking me about how I will celebrate this upcoming year. It seemed so far away at the time but I couldn’t be more excited about it now. Before I go into that, let me explain why 2020 is called 2020.

How 2020 became 2020

Much as I had envisioned the business being a success, I wasn’t thinking about the year when I chose the name. In fact, I wanted to call it The Woodbine Gallery ( you can read a little more about that in this Instagram post). Then I realised the link to an old cigarette brand I had to go back to the drawing board. I also wanted to call it the White Horse Gallery, after my love of wild seas. I subsequently discovered that the location I had chosen to open in ( in Ballydehob in West Cork) was number 20. This information combined with the help of some quick thinking by a family member we came up with 2020. The connotation with perfect vision made such sense! And so began the adventure that has brought me from art gallery to art consultancy and now the not so eponymous year.

2020

2020 Curates is all about vision. It’s about creating opportunities for everyone who has a love for art to engage with art in their own way. Through each of the arms of the business I strive to help artists and art buyers achieve their vision for role they want art to play in their lives.

The next year will build on that through a series of online campaigns, that everyone can get involved in, workshops, new additions to the e-bookshop and much, much more!

The theme for the year is conversation. I want to hear your thoughts on art and get lots of chat going about all things art!!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your support in this decade. I can’t wait for you all to join the 2020 Curates adventure in the new one.

Happy New Year!!!!
